You may expect me to say “we don’t help white people” or something along those lines right now, but that’s not the message I’m going to give you. It’s probably very different than you expect.
Our system has failed people. First and foremost it has failed Black people but it has failed all of us. And let’s be honest, we’ve failed our system, too. We had the chance to support kinder laws, to reach out to our neighbors and offer support, to form communities and … we didn’t. And not doing that got us here.
The thing I’ve learned about poverty and homelessness since we started $O$ is that actually we can fix it very easily. We, as a society, just don’t want to. The problem is that we have a lack of compassion. Our churches have failed us. Our government has failed us. Our universities have failed us, and why? Because of a value system that has completely failed us as a country and as a culture.
Regardless of race $O$ will help you apply for government benefits as well as register to vote no matter your political affiliation or beliefs.
However we need you to know that we stand for these things:
- Universal healthcare — free to ALL, especially during a PANDEMIC
- Universal education — free to ALL
- Universal basic income — basic life necessities such as housing should be a human right
If you still want our help despite not supporting our platform, we will still help you. We do encourage you to vote but we do not encourage you HOW to vote. At times we may inform you of political actions or initiatives that support these means. We will always give you the opportunity to opt out, even if you are receiving our help.
$O$ does not discriminate on the basis and/or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics of age, ancestry, color, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, marital status, medical condition, military or veteran status, national origin, immigration status, political affiliation, pregnancy and related conditions, race, religion, retaliation, sex (including sexual harassment), sexual orientation, or any other basis prohibited by California state and federal nondiscrimination laws respectively.
